LIVERY DESIGN - COMPLEX CURVES & AERODYNAMIC CONTOURS
"Transforming aging aircraft into timeless, modern head-turners"
Before establishing Brewed Canvas, I owned and operated an aircraft paint shop in Los Angeles, I specialized in designing custom paint schemes for general aviation aircraft.
Aircraft design is a unique discipline that demands both artistic vision and technical precision. Unlike flat canvases, an aircraft surface is a dynamic, three-dimensional form defined by complex curves, rivets, doors, and aerodynamic contour lines. Every design must align flawlessly with these physical features while capturing the owner’s individual vision and personality.
Transforming vintage aircrafts into to look factory new, modern head-turners was one of the most rewarding aspects of this work—breathing new life and elegance into every airframe through high-contrast lines, sleek motion graphics, and meticulous craftsmanship. Each custom scheme was tailored to match the owner’s vision, merging high-end aesthetics with aerodynamic precision.
Featured Project: Full-Scale P-40 Warhawk Installation (LAX Area)
Category: Custom Aircraft Paint & Large-Scale Installation
Location: Restaurant near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
Situated ideal for Plane Spotting: Situated right under the final approach path to LAX runway 25, offering direct views of landing aircraft from the indoor and outdoor seating areas
Beyond functional aircraft paint schemes, my experience in Los Angeles extended to large-scale aviation installations and custom creative builds.
One highlight project was contributing to the assembly and authentic paint finish of a full-scale historical fighter plane replica suspended above the dining floor of a venue near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Crafted from actual aircraft parts and custom components, this project involved recreating the iconic WWII P-40 Warhawk “Shark Mouth” livery—blending precise historical detailing with bold, immersive interior art.
Built from a mixture of original aircraft parts and fabricated sections, the aircraft featured the famous, aggressive Shark Mouth nose art and authentic historic markings. This project highlights the intersection of aviation craftsmanship, historical nostalgia, and commercial spatial design.
